Encounter Mara offers a unique addition to a classic safari: an authentic Maasai cultural interaction. Guests may be accompanied by their guide outside of the conservancy to a local Maasai community. There they observe traditional Maasai living, join in with some of the work being done by the African Impact Volunteers, or even plant their tree provided by Encounter Mara through the ONE Stay for ONE Day pledge. There are no gift shops or overplayed gimmick shows to try to sell something during these experiences, just simple, down-to-earth interactions, with classic Maasai hospitality.
Our guides’ first hand knowledge of the Maasai way of life will also allow guests to enjoy an authentic journey into this colourful culture during their stay. Whether on game-drives or bush-walks, while gazing at the stars or chatting at the dinner table, our guides are eager to share their culture, knowledge and traditions with guests, opening a window to their world.
